From our company's start in the early 1900's, we had to change mindsets about the value, use and safety of electricity and natural gas. Despite its obvious benefits, there were those who resisted change and were reluctant to accept that our products could make a competitive difference.
Nearly 100 years later our operations reach across the nation, and none of us can imagine a world without energy.
Many of today's minority- and women-owned businesses face challenges similar to Aquila's early days. Perhaps smaller and lesser known, these companies often have to work harder to get a foot in the door and have a chance to be heard.
Aquila's Supplier Diversity initiative is about opening the door to minority- and women-owned businesses and listening to what they have to say. We believe a relationship can benefit our company and the community.
Sincerely,
Richard C. Green
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
