Supplier Diversity

Supplier Diversity

From our Company's Chairman

From our company's start in the early 1900's, we had to change mindsets about the value, use and safety of electricity and natural gas. Despite its obvious benefits, there were those who resisted change and were reluctant to accept that our products could make a competitive difference.

Nearly 100 years later our operations reach across the nation, and none of us can imagine a world without energy.

Many of today's minority- and women-owned businesses face challenges similar to Aquila's early days. Perhaps smaller and lesser known, these companies often have to work harder to get a foot in the door and have a chance to be heard.

Aquila's Supplier Diversity initiative is about opening the door to minority- and women-owned businesses and listening to what they have to say. We believe a relationship can benefit our company and the community.

Sincerely,

Richard C. Green
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

Our Program

Aquila's supplier diversity program contributes to the success of the businesses we partner with and the growth of our communities. Since 2000, Aquila has worked to ensure that small, disadvantaged businesses and women-owned businesses have a better opportunity to compete for the company's purchase contracts.

If your small, disadvantaged or women-owned business would like to become a supplier or subcontractor for Aquila:

  1. Review the products and services usage list to see whether Aquila utilizes any of the products or services that your company provides.
  2. It is the policy of Aquila's Supplier Diversity Department to introduce and promote small businesses, diverse suppliers and women-owned businesses that are third-party certified or self-certified. Aquila approves third-party certifying agencies from federal, state and local governments: Supplier Diversity Resources.
  3. Submit your Aquila Supplier Registration Form. The information will be downloaded into Aquila's sourcing database.
  4. To complete the process, send your certification, with registration number referenced, to: Aquila Supplier Diversity Department; 20 West Ninth Street; Kansas City, MO 64105 or fax it to (816) 467-9492. If Aquila doesn't receive your certification within 30 days, your information will be deleted from the sourcing database.

When an opportunity arises, an Aquila Supplier Diversity administrator will contact you.

If you have suggestions, questions or comments about Aquila's Supplier Diversity program, please email them to us or call (816) 467-3492.
