Place trees where they won't interfere with utility service lines. Remember that you are planting for tomorrow - choose trees, shrubs and plants that will fit the site when they mature.

Before you dig

For safety, you are required by law to Call Before You Dig. In response, your local utility companies will come out and mark the location of underground utility lines. How far in advance you must call varies from state to state, so plan ahead and check with your state's program for guidelines. Failure to obtain a line location before you dig can result in a substantial fine.
